Land

We work to minimize surface disturbance through effective planning and responsible development.

We protect

We recognize that our land use may affect our neighbors. Given its multiple uses, both human and ecological, there is an increased expectation for companies to demonstrate a high degree of environmental protection and a drive to implement better land use practices.

We integrate

Our land use practices integrate environmental, low-impact techniques, species conservation and biodiversity consideration in our planning and operational decisions. Some examples include:

  • low-impact plowing, rather than trenching, to lay pipelines
  • centrally locating mud tanks to reduce the need to move them when drilling several wells in the same area
  • non-linear seismic lines to reduce the disturbance to caribou migratory paths
  • sponsorship of conservation programs such as Ducks Unlimited
  • baseline mapping technology that helps us visualize and identify relationships between environmental and social data in considering the location of operational facilities
  • reseeding of disturbed areas with native seed mixes
